WalkieTalkie Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 13, 2026
Overview
WalkieTalkie is an async voice messaging app. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app collects and how it is used.
Data We Collect
- Audio recordings: When you record a voice message, the audio is uploaded to our server and delivered to the channel. Recordings are stored temporarily for message delivery and are not retained indefinitely.
- Device identifier: A randomly generated UUID is stored on your device to route messages. This is not linked to your Apple ID or any personal information.
- Nickname (optional): If you choose to set a display name, it is sent with your messages so other channel members can identify you.
- Channel IDs: Channels are identified by randomly generated GUIDs. Channel membership is determined solely by knowledge of the channel ID.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or Apple ID.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking frameworks.
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
- We do not use cookies or web tracking.
Microphone and Camera
The app requests microphone access to record voice messages and camera access to scan QR codes for joining channels. These permissions are only used for their stated purposes.
Data Storage
Audio messages are processed and stored on servers hosted by Vercel. Messages are retained for a limited period to ensure delivery and are then deleted.
Children's Privacy
WalkieTalkie does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require any personal information to use.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
